The Knoxville wrecker driver plays a crucial role in our service department, responsible for safely and efficiently transporting vehicles to and from our facility. This position requires strong mechanical knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work effectively in various environments.:· Safely operate wrecker vehicles to transport vehicles to and from our facility.· Provide excellent customer service by ensuring the safe and timely delivery of vehicles.· Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of wrecker vehicles to ensure road-worthiness and compliance with safety regulations.· Maintain accurate records of vehicle pickups, deliveries, and mileage.· Assist with loading and unloading vehicles onto wreckers, ensuring proper securing of vehicles.· Communicate effectively with dispatch, service advisors, and customers to coordinate vehicle transportation.· Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as local, state, and federal regulations governing vehicle operation.· Drive various types of commercial vehicles (trucks, buses, etc.) under test conditions to validate reported issues or confirm completed repairs· Perform pre- and post-repair road tests to collect vehicle performance data including braking, handling, and maneuverability· Listen for abnormal sounds from the engine, transmission, driveline, or chassis to help identify mechanical issues· Record observations such as mileage, fuel/fluid usage, brake performance, and any unusual symptoms· Move customer and company vehicles around the yard and into/out of service bays, including disabled vehicles
Requirements
Valid Commercial Driver's License - Class A with clean MVR
Physical Demands
Walking throughout the service and warehouse areas.
Ability to lift self into vehicles
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbsFrequent standing and climbing
